Can anyone recommend a spot to hunt hogs? I have never been on a hog hunt and think it would be cool to take a crack at one.

There is an article in the latest Nebraskaland magazine about ferral hogs in Nebraska. Sounds like you might get lucky around Oak Glenn in Seward county or around Harlan County. The article said they are mostly noctural and very wary, so bagging one would be quite a trophy. The are not considered a game animal, so you can hunt them whenever you want. Shoot as many as you can as they can cause considerable damage if left unchecked.

There was an article in the Omaha World Herald today about feral hogs The article pointed out that even though they are not a game species, they can't be hunted by the general public. Only game & parks personal can hunt them and landowners may hunt them on their own land. I'd say a guy better check with a game warden prior to hunten a hog in NE.

I think if you read the article again it refers to the area in southwest Iowa and those hogs were possibly escapies from a hunting preserve closer to the same general area. I got the impression that they don't want the general public hunting in that area!

IWANT4EYES- The article that I referred to is in the 4/25/2005 issue of the World Herald titled "Officials look to eradicate wild pigs in Nebraska" by Larry Porter. About 2/3 of the way through the article is this paragraph;
"Although hunters can kill wild pigs in several southern states, it is illegal in Nebraska to hunt them for sport or trophy. Those who kill wild pigs in Nebraska - with the exception of landowners who can kill them on their own property - must be authorized agents of the commission." It does go on to state that the agency wants to hire someone to trap or shoot wild pigs on private or public land. Mr Porter's article seems to have a lot of research behind it, so I would sure check with the Game & Parks before I went Hog Hunting. I just don't want to see anyone get into trouble over a pig.

Sorry, I was referring to the article in the sunday sports outdoor section. I hadn't read the monday paper yet, so missed what you were talking about. Sounds like those pigs get educated if they are shot at and go nocturnal, thats is why they are trapping them before putting them to sleep.

Just keep them down south. We don't want them up here.
