Omaha Area Lakes Fishing Reports

My grandson Coby and I were out to Wherespan today from 10:30 till 1:00. The temp was 9 degrees and a brisk wind out of the North forced us to both fish in my Fishtrap Pro, now I know how those sardines feel when they are put in the can. I finally outfished my thirdgrade grandson this year. I caught 7 nice Gills and he caught 2, All of them were in that 7-8" range and we knew that we weren't going to be fishing very long so we didn't keep any.

My grandson, Coby and his dad, my other son and his wife, and I went to Wherespan this afternoon and fished till sundown. It was miserable with the damp wind outy of the NW and the fish weren't biting very well. We would catch one now and then, but no big ones, until about a half hour before sundown, Then they turned on and we caught some bigger fish, but we had already decided against keeping any today since it was so slow earlier. Coby outfished everybody again, because he has his granpa's touch. 10" of ice and very slippery.

My nine year old grandson and I went to Wherespan this afternoon and fished for three hours, My youngest son joined us about an hour after we got there. We were able to keep 2 crappies that measured 10 1/2", but we threw  back 4 others that didn't measure up. We also kept 15  8" Bluegills out of about 50 that we caught. The ice was 5" and cloudy where we were fishing. My grandson easily outfished his uncle and me. He deffinately has the touch and is able to take care of his own lines.
