I'm using Yankee Hill as a practice lake since I am a new angler (that is, a new tangler) and so far, I stink like trout bait.

Today Oct. 25 2011, very windy, 65 F air temp.
Caught: 13.5-inch juvenile largemouth bass in cover on southern tip of the T-shaped jettee on eastern side of lake using 1/16 oz yellow jighead with marabout. [[I released it in good condition, of course]].
Nibbles (prob bluegills) on #5 straight-shank hook with nightcrawler and bobber, 3feet depth, in cover in the inlet straight east of position listed above.
    THAT WAS IT!!!
I intend to keep posting my disappointing results (I go out 4-5 times a week now as I work near this lake...and so far have brought nothing home) in the hopes that someone will tell me what I'm doing wrong.
    PS I don't own a boat.

wasn't too sure how good the fishing would be due to the large amounts of rainfall the last week or so.  i started out working the wooded areas with a few different colored spinners with no luck as well as plastic critter baits.  no luck with jerk baits anywhere.  ended up catching 6 bass between 15 and 18 inches on a lipless crank, crawfish coloring, burning it around the leafy brush (dont know what it's called) more in the middle of the lake by drop offs, they were hard striking and ready to feed with the right bait
